Since 2006 WPG Resources has had a strong focus in project exploration and development in South Australia and currently has a portfolio of tenements covering a total of 5,373 sq km.
Following the company’s success in development and sale of its SA iron ore projects, WPG is now focused on two key advanced gold projects in the Gawler Craton – Tunkillia and Tarcoola – acquired in May 2014.
At the same time, WPG is continuing exploration programs in its other tenements which are considered to have excellent potential for the discovery of several types of mineral occurrences including gold, nickel, base metals, iron ore and coal.
GAWLER CRATON GOLD PROJECTS
WPG will carry out further exploration at Tunkillia and Tarcoola with the objective of increasing the resource, reviewing process and infrastructure optimisation, and seeking to advance potential synergies between the two deposits. The Tunkillia and Tarcoola Gold Projects will be subject to in-depth analysis before field work is initiated (anticipated to be later in 2014).
NORTHERN GAWLER EXPLORATION PROJECTS
WPG is the holder of exploration licences that cover some of the most prospective ground in the region.
Muckanippie EL 5154
An aircore drilling program was completed in late April on the Nardoo, Regal and Duke prospects within the Muckanippie tenement. This is the first stage of follow-up exploration on priority targets defined during 2013 in the tenements.
Robins Rise EL 4525 and Lake Woorong EL 4907
The drill target areas within the Lake Woorong and Robins Rise tenements will be drilled in the coming months in the second stage of the Phase 2 exploration program.
Penrhyn Coal (within EL 4525)
Drilling on the Penrhyn Coal Deposit by WPG has provided sufficient data for a maiden JORC compliant resource estimate of 352.4 million tonnes. The estimate was based on detailed geological logging and interpretation of chips and PQ core, seam correlation and 3-D modelling, assisted by results of down hole multi-probe geophysical logging that was carried out in each of the drill holes.
Perfection Well EL 4908
Data review and reconnaissance geological mapping and sampling are ongoing.
